The actual configuration of the letters is done under ‘Configuration > General > General Configuration’

Notification Template = Allows staff to test the output of a letter
XML To Letter Admin = Allows staff to register a user to receive the XML of a specific letter. The XML is then used in ‘Notification Template’
The XML from “XML To Letter Admin” is used as an input for “Notification Template”
This is useful because configuration changes can be made in the xsl of the letter and then tested via “Notification Template” to see how the letter will appear without actually sending it.

For example on the next screen is the letter for the order to the vendor.
Let’s say for example that the library wants to
Remove the column “Note” from the table
Put the title in the first column.
Remove the ‘Shipping method” from the letter.
Before actually beginning to send the new version of the letter to a vendor library wants to first check how the configuration will appear. Library wants to check the configuration changes without actually sending the letter.

Via ‘Configuration > General > General Configuration > Notification template’ we upload the xml and click save
We could define to send this to a specific person’s but instead we will just have it appear in a new window.

Now we will click “Run XSL”

After clicking “Run XSL” the letter will open and staff user can see how the new configuration appears. Letter is not actually sent.
Note that the letter will open in new tab or new window depending on browser settings. Check your browser settings if it does not open and change accordingly (even if temporarily)
