5. 5 Introduction This presentation will describe how a library may determine which fields and subfields will be copied from the bibliographic record to the 852 h and other subfields in the holding record. The functionality described here is available from the August 2014 release onwards.

7. 7 Setup A new table exists in the Resource Management Configuration menu called “Call Number Mapping” It is located in the “General” section

8. 8 Setup The purpose of this table is to define which bibliographic fields and related subfields should be copied to the holding record 852 field, and to which subfields in the 852 holding record field. It works according to the 1st indicator of the 852 field in the holding record

9. 9 Setup The way the 1st indicator of the 852 field in the holding record is created has not changed The 1st indicator of the 852 field in the holding record is still created by one of the following three methods: Default holding record template Call number type as defined in the location Call number type as defined in the global parameter “customer_parameters” table A full in depth discussion about how the 852 holding record 1 st indicator is created is beyond the scope of this presentation

14. 14 Setup The following is a description of the columns in the “call number mapping table” (part 1 of 2) Enabled = A yellow checkmark means active, a grey checkmark means not active, clicking it toggles it. Making the line not active is like deleting it, but it can be easily reactivated. Up and down arrows = determine the order of the lines. The table is read top to bottom. It stops as soon as a match is found. Bib Field To Copy = The bibliographic field which contains the data which will be copied to the 852 holding record field. Bib Subfields To Copy = The subfields of the “Bib Field To Copy ” which will be copied to the 852 holding record field

15. 15 Setup The following is a description of the columns in the “call number mapping table” (part 2 of 2) 852 1st Ind = The line will be effective only when the 852 1 st indicator equals whatever is in this column 852 Subfield 2 = Only relevant when the “852 1st Ind” is 7. The line will be effective only when the 852 1 st indicator equals 7 and the 852 Subfield 2 equals whatever is in this column 852 Subfield Destination= The subfields of the 852 field to which the “Bib Subfields To Copy” will be copied Description = Free text description of the call number type Delete = Deletes the line

No 963 field but does have a 098 then the 098 subfields a, b, c and d will be copied to holding record 852 subfields h, i, k and m. No 963 field and no 098 but does have a 092 then the 092 subfields a and b will be copied to holding record 852 subfields h and I No 963 field and no 098 and no 092 but does have a 082 then the 082 subfields a and b will be copied to holding record 852 subfields h and i

21. 21 Example In other words … If the bibliographic record has any of the following fields: 963, 098, 092 and 082 Then the first one matched in the table (read top to bottom) will be applied. Thus if the bibliographic record has a 098 and a 092 but does not have a 963 then the rule for the 098 will be applied because it appears before the line with the 092. It does not matter if the record has a 082 because it appears after the line with the 098.
