15 National Trails Coaltion
The National Trails Coalition (NTC) comprised of the Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations (CCSO), the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV) and the Canadian Trails Federation (CTF) continues to play a significant role in ensuring future funding of motorized trails and trail infrastructure in Canada. The Government of Canada has been very specific in wanting to deal with the NTC as the one entity representing all trail use in Canada. 12/30/2018

16 News Release - For Immediate Release
Federal Government Launches $10-million National Recreational Trails Program June 26, 2014 Sussex, New Brunswick “The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Rob Moore, Regional Minister for New Brunswick and Minister of State (ACOA), and Jo-Anne Farquhar, President of the National Trails Coalition (NTC) today launched the National Recreational Trails Program…” 12/30/2018

17 NTC-INFC Partnership COHV in partnership with the NTC Board of Directors received NTC’s first 2014/2015 funding allocation installment payment from Infrastructure Canada (INFC) in the amount of $5 million as part of its agreement with INFC for the two year 2014/2016 $10 million program. 12/30/2018

18 Background & Direction:
ATV/ORM federal allocation of dollars is a total of $3,200, across Canada. From the initial intake of project applications there were several provinces whose organizations were over-subscribed in all three of the trail disciplines. This excess in requests for funding puts NTC in a good position to lobby for further funding moving forward beyond 2014 – 2016. 12/30/2018

19 Background & Direction:
August 15, 2015 was the final date for applications to be received in round one for all trail disciplines. January 30, 2015 was the final date for applications to be received in round two of the ATV/Off-Road Vehicle sector application process. To date, there over 250 projects that have been approved by the NTC in all three trail discipline. At this time there are 71 ATV/ORM projects across Canada that have been approved following the second round of funding application review by the NTC Board of Directors. 12/30/2018

20 Unprecedented Benefits of COHVs partnership with the NTC
Building critical organizational capacity at the provincial and community level by having small organizations deliver important projects in their communities, thus making them stronger and better able to contribute to the communities in which they operate. The concept of “multi-use” was embraced by previously adversarial trail disciplines “ working together pays higher dividends than working at cross purposes”. Additional public benefits are realized when trails are built for shared-use in terms of an investment of public funds. A national program proved that coordinated trail development works on a nationwide basis. 12/30/2018

21 Outcomes An investment in trails is an investment in healthy living; safer recreation; better environmental management and education; community development; economic activity; and employment. Tourism - Expand and grow Canada’s four-season tourism industry; Health, Well-being and Recreation - Promote healthy and physically active outdoor lifestyle choices; Industry - Expand and improve places to ride Positive image of industry and riders with government Positive impact on local OHV markets Promote effective trail design and maintenance that contribute to trail safety 12/30/2018
