1 Volume of F5-backed Apps
Licensing: Choose Flexible Software Deployment Options Cloud options tailored to customer needs for greater flexibility and choice Volume of F5-backed Apps Cloud Licensing Program (CLP) Bring Your Own License (BYOL) Volume Licensing Subscription (VLS) On-demand Utility pricing with highest flexibility; pay-as-you-go or annual subscription. Perpetual VE License which customer owns and can move across private and public clouds. Subscription discounts for 100+ VE instances; 1 or 3-year terms, up to 78% discount. Includes premium support services. Public cloud Public, private, and hybrid Public, private and hybrid Best for deployment flexibility; on-demand consumption Best for few production workloads or existing licenses Best for large scale workload production; F5 for every app. OPEX CAPEX via F5 Ready Cloud Provider via F5 or channel partner Here’s a quick overview of F5 Cloud Offerings. VLS and BYOL follow F5’s typical motion of direct or through the channel. Whereas your customer must purchase CLP through a Cloud Provider. CLP provides utility pricing by the hour, day or month. So if a customer of yours wants to run instances of VE in AWS and pay by the hour, this is the way to go. But the instance would become highly expensive to run over an extended period of time. With BYOL the customer purchases a standard VE license, say with a 4-5 year lifecycle. This license could be moved to another cloud that F5 supports, like AWS. As discussed, VLS is a subscription that requires a large commitment in F5 infrastructure by the customer. For this reason, the price per instance is the lowest of the offerings. Price/License $$$ $ $$

2 Choosing the Best Deployment Option based on Need
Example: 200Mbps with Better BYOL Production (CAPEX) Stabile run rate application running in the Cloud. Years in Production Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 C B A Hourly Utility BYOL Annual Subscription A Annual Subscription Production (OPEX) Capital Expenditure is not an option, but budget predictability and cost are important. B CLP/Utility Dev & test or temporal deployments (OPEX) Customer is building apps in the cloud. Flexibility is more important than per unit cost. C Cost examples based on AWS environment.
