Subject Board, Spec and Code Grading and Weighting Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 ½ Term RM WJEC GCSE Design & Technology 1-9 50% Non Examination Assessment (NEA) 50% Written Exam Controlled Assessment (NEA) Ongoing CA (NEA)  project of student  choice Manufacturing Skills and Knowledge Technical Principals Written mock exam Preparation and sitting of written exam in June Exam preparation is fed into practical projects. Throughout the course, students will average 1 hour of learning directly required for their written exam. However, during this period of intense preparation in Y11, pupils will increase this average to 3 hours per week Food AQA GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition NEA 1: Food Investigation (15% of total 50% NEA grade) Students understanding of working characteristics, functional and chemical properties of ingredients (10 hour task during class time) Written or electronic report – 1’000-2’000 words including photographic evidence of investigations NEA 2 : Food preparation assessment (35% 0f total 50% NEA grade) Students knowledge, skills, and understanding in relation to the planning, preparation, cooking, presentation of food, and the application of nutrition related to the task. Students will prepare, cook and present a final menu of three dishes within 3 hours with advance planning. (20 hr task during class time) Written or electronic portfolio including photographic evidence of three final dishes Preparation and sitting of written exam in June: Demonstrating theoretical knowledge of food preparation and nutrition, which is taught over the course Art OCR GCSE Art and Design - Fine Art J171 60% Portfolio (Project 1-4) 40% Externally Set Task (Project 5) Project 4 Covering Component 1: Portfolio ‘Independent Choice – Last years Externally Set Task questions’ Project 5 Covering Component 2: Externally Set Task ‘Exam’ January release paper. Five themes. One to be explored by each student. Exam condition prep-time (explore, develop, and refine response) ending in 10 hour exam (final piece for project) Refining Coursework (Assignments 1-4) Looking back at NS to improve work, and the final push achieve those highest grades! Presentation (Assignments 1-5) Mounting and organising work into portfolios and an exhibition ready for the examiner!
