2 In this session you will:
Learn what you and your child should be doing in middle school to plan for college. Explore online resources for college planning. Our objectives for this workshop are to show you what you and your middle school student can be doing now to prepare for high school and beyond by exploring the CollegeBoard and GeorgiaFutures websites.

3 Planning for College – GA Futures
Click on the “GAfutures” link Review the GA high school graduation requirements Read through the “College Planning Timeline” Be sure to read and discuss the Middle School tab Look ahead at the 9th/10th grade tab The College Board’s BIG FUTURE website will help students and parents prepare by letting you explore college requirements, some information on financial aid, and testing for PSAT, SAT, and ACT - testing that begins in high school. Georgia College 411 was developed by the Georgia Department of Education and is very user friendly. From this platform you can explore colleges, careers, and the Hope Scholarship. When your student begins high school, their transcripts will automatically load into Georgia College 411, and you can track their GPA and Hope GPA. Some colleges even allow you to submit transcripts directly via Georgia College 411, so now is a good time to start exploring this resource. The Path2College is a website resource for exploring a 529 Plan and pathways for saving for college. At this time, we would like for you to go to the computers with your students to explore. Start with GA College 411 and create a log in.

4 EXPLORE CollegeBoard! Go to the CollegeBoard website
In the search window type in the name of a college (Dream BIG!) What are the minimum requirements? The costs?
