2 About Us I was raised in North Berwick and attended NBHS
I was raised in Johannesburg until the age of 6 then moved to Milton Keynes We both enjoyed our STEM subjects We are in Powertrain Engineering for Jaguar Land Rover in the Degree Apprenticeship Scheme Explain that the stem subjects played a large role in our career and life Explain what powertrain is and individual job role is. Make it exciting to draw in

3 STEM Stem subjects are key in daily life for us and the other apprentices. The average salary for STEM jobs are considerably higher than any other job. There are multiple different career opportunities in STEM subjects. There are always a need for people to work in STEM jobs Stem subjects are science, technology, engineering, maths They average approximately 250,000 more over a lifetime. 8.5 Evoque’s, 2.5 F type SVR’s 1 million freddos There are hundreds of different pathways which stem subjects can take you down.

4 Apprenticeship The process we both went through for Jaguar Land Rover was very intense and thorough It consisted of multiple online tests We then had our assessment centre days The tests were things such as Numeracy, Mechanics, English and observation. Our assessment centre involved; 1-1 interview, group activity, a hands on activity.

5 Our Apprenticeship Jaguar Land Rover has the most competitive apprenticeship scheme in the country. Over 30,000 people applied for our roles and we were the lucky few who received them. We receive a degree at the University of Warwick in applied engineering. All of our tuition fees are paid for. Also a the salary we receive is quite a big bonus 150 people applied for our roles but we received them. Warwick currently stands in 9th place in the UK out of 130 Jaguar pays for all of out tuition fees meaning that we wont need to pay for any student loans of about 20,000 in Scotland whereas in England its about 50,000 Optional – State our salary is about 20,000

7 Career Choices Career Choices are very important
Choose subjects that you find interesting Think about what you want to do School is the first time you will have real responsibility and helps you for later life. This means that you are more likely to enjoy studying them and will do well in them. Certain courses require certain subjects like engineering you will need maths and physics. People like Mick will assist you in your career choice.

8 Why Apprenticeships Career Path Salary Experts in Field Experience
Qualifications Career Path – It allows you to secure a real job opportunity earlier in your life. This allows you not to worry after university to find a job Salary – This allows you not to have any debt or loans to repay them in later life. It is quite a considerable weight off your shoulders in later life. Experts in Field – You learn from your colleagues and managers which are experts in your field which help you with your learning. Once you are familiarised with people in your field it allows you to develop working networks which allow for better opportunities such as charterships or new jobs. Experience - You learn work placed skills which consists of; theory and hands-on. You are lowered into it which makes it an easier transition from school to work. Qualifications – All apprenticeships allow for you to study for different or more recognised qualifications. Certain ones allow you study for degrees with all fees paid. In apprenticeships you don’t need to know the ins and outs of your field. But hard work dedication gets you a long way.

9 My Experience I was unsure what to do
I didn’t have a plan of what to do I was interested in cars and sports With the assistance of mick he assisted me in my choice. I initially thought I was going to join the police. I then was introduced to apprenticeships by Mick Burns and Mr Burgess Mick proposed lots of different opportunities which I applied to but wasn’t accepted by any. Every week I attended his interview improvement class which really helped me build my confidence and also become more mature and professional. He helped me significantly with my CV and my interview preparation. Once I was told about my assessment centre for JLR he assisted me massively. I was offered other apprenticeships but had to put all the positives and negatives against each other and take a slight risk. I had many different paths which I started following Mick has been a massive help to me during my school life and has now sent me on a truly amazing path. I am extremely grateful for his time and dedication to me and my application. Any opportunity he gives you, take it as they are extremely worthwhile.
