2 Warm-Up: Fiction In the prologue, the author tells us the story of how he discovered Pi’s story. He continues to tell us about his “interview” with Pi in the sections written in italics. These parts are as fictional as the rest of the novel. Why would the author choose to make himself a fictional character? How does this relate to the quote, “All stories are true, but none of them are literal”?

5 Hero’s Journey Charts Choose ANY book, movie or completed TV show that you like and you think fits the hero’s journey. Fill in the parts of the story that match the phase of the hero’s journey in the correct boxes. They may not be in the same order.

6 Writing Response: Pi’s Journey.
Look at your quotes for Pi as an adult and child. Based on these quotes, how has Pi changed? Has he achieved the freedom described in the last stage of Campbell’s monomyth? Why or why not? Use at least one quote to support your answer (CDW format).

7 Homework: Due Friday, 3/25 Read up to the end of Ch. 14. Answer these two questions (half page each): Do you agree with Mr. Kumar, Pi or neither about religion? Why? Do you agree with Pi’s analysis of zoos? Why or why not?
