Thinking about changing your major? To understand how changing your major will impact your graduation timeline, run a Degree Works audit or visit with your academic advisor. Still undecided? Remaining undecided for too long can have negative financial aid implications. Choosing the right major takes time and careful consideration. Use the Major Explorer tool in your Guide app (search “Guide-College Simplified” in your app store) for options that may fit with the subjects and activities you enjoy. Conduct some research on O*Net Online ( It’s a great resource to find information about knowledge, skills, abilities and more needed for almost any career. Academic advisors in your college and/or career counselors/specialists in the Career Development Center can also help guide you through researching possibilities. Ready to change your major? Changing majors is easy – as long as you meet all the requirements of the new program. Login to your myWSU portal and click on “Change My Major/Minor” on the Home tab. Changing majors can take a few days to process. Fall 2017 Week 10

2 Degree Planning Tools You hear a lot about planning for graduation, but do you know the tools that are available to you? Degree Works is an auditing system found in your myWSU portal that will help you track where you are in your degree program. It is a helpful tool that can outline degree requirements and allow you to see what your path would be if you changed your major. Department websites will often include degree check sheets that will provide printable list of courses required for each major. Academic Advisors are always available to discuss degree options, requirements and opportunities. Go to wichita.edu/advising for advising information. Need a financial plan to accompany your degree plan? Contact the Office of Student Money Management to create a plan for how to cover the costs of the remainder of your degree.
