7 Changing Fashions Some women began to rebel against old ideas about how they should dress and behave These were often young, urban women who adopted a radical new fashion style – dresses that barely came to their knees Many also cut their hair short These women were called flappers Many also challenged traditions in other ways by joining men at jazz clubs and drinking alcohol Even those that disagreed with the style were affected by these changes in society
