1 Just a Few Things New seats! No allusions quiz this week
Extra Credit film viewing: 3:10 Homework check-in: the two 12-sent. paragraphs tying the How to Read Lit. chapters to satire in Pride and Prejudice

2 Theme Ideas in Pride and Prejudice
a fishbowl discussion

3 First, there is Prep Work!
In a moment, you’ll randomly select one of the following theme ideas: Pride Prejudice First Impressions Once you’ve selected your theme idea, develop it into a fully fleshed out theme that can be supported using only Pride and Prejudice Vol. 1 & 2 (with possibly the very beginning of Volume 3: let’s try not to have spoilers for those who’ve still not finished the novel…) Be sure you can answer this question and support it with text: What characters, plot points, literary techniques, etc. help to solidify your theme statement? Have students randomly select a slip of paper with one of the theme ideas on it. Give them as much time as you can. You need to move to the next slide with about 30 minutes left in the hour. That way each group gets at least 8 minutes of discussion time.

4 Soon, we will fishbowl… Not sure you recall how fishbowling works?
No worries! Your Survival Guide explains it in detail.

5 Answer the following question:
What characters, plot points, literary techniques, etc. help to solidify your theme statement? Be sure to support your arguments! Group Order: First Impressions Pride Prejudice Saving a little time of the hour at the end for handing out the prep homework for tomorrow, decide how much time each group gets. Ideally 8+ minutes a group. Then, let them chat!

6 Tomorrow Finish Pride and Prejudice
Complete the task outlined on the “Close Reading” handout
