SAICA Requirements 1 TSR and PSR (Combined SR) every 2 months (but not limited to) 1 ANA every 6 months All closed TSRs and PSRs (Combined SR) since previous ANA will be included in new ANA TSR & PSR (Combined SR) must be completed latest 2 weeks after the audit SR reviewed and closed latest 2 weeks after submission from trainee PA(C)6: …”Takes responsibility for own development” Trainee focussed system SAICA 2016 Regulations – an extract… 27 ASSESSMENT OF A TRAINEE ACCOUNTANT’S COMPETENCE 27.1 Both the training officer and the trainee accountant must participate in and comply with the assessment process as prescribed by SAICA from time to time in the official SAICA Assessment Policies and the SAICA Assessment Forms. 27.2 At a minimum, trainees must initiate and complete at least one TSR and PSR form during every two months; 27.3 Reviewers must review the TSR and PSR forms timeously after the trainee has completed the forms (it is suggested that forms should be reviewed within three weeks from when they are completed by the trainee); 27.4 Trainees must finalise and sign the TSR and PSR forms timeously after the reviewers have completed the review (it is suggested that forms are finalised and signed off by the trainee within two weeks from the date of review); 27.5 Trainees must initiate at least one ANA form every six months; 27.6 The trainees and the evaluators must discuss and sign off the ANA form within four weeks from the end of the six-month period under review .

SAICA: Structure of Training Program
RESIDUAL SKILLS (R) The balance of the prescribed skills areas ELECTIVE SKILLS (E) Auditing and Assurance COMPULSORY SKILLS (C) 1. Financial & non-financial reporting 2. Pervasive professional skills BASIC EXPERIENCE – enough time to achieve a general awareness of the vocabulary and related concepts of the discipline with demonstrated competence in simple, uncomplicated situations ADVANCED EXPERIENCE – enough time to achieve a comprehensive understanding and application of the competencies and techniques with demonstrated competence in complex situations or events. Pervasive Skills (Compulsory – Advanced Experience) * Professional Conduct MUST give evidence that is Specific, Verifiable and positive (no rating!) MUST also give evidence if rated for the following pervasive topics:- * Management & Leadership * Professional Attributes * Information Technology Accounting and External reporting = Compulsory! Advanced experience Elective (1 elective, the rest residual) E.g. Auditing and Assurance ( Elective requires Advanced experience) Residual Skills (Basic Experience) Taxation Financial Management Management Decision-Making and Control Strategy, Risk Management and Governance Note the relevant Skills are referenced on LTS with an R, E / C -> Remember to show when we get to screen

Can be accessed by all LTS users Open Items - Your notification area and work space of TSRs/PSRs or ANAs currently open Skills Reviews / ANA’s / Status Report / Final ANA - Where you start a new skills review or ANA or get access to your reports Left Bar Documents – All useful document downloads: SAICA and EY related (will later in slide show). Note the Namibia offices can provide us with the relevant ICAN documents and Zimbabwe with ICAZ Edit Your Details Note the information in the specified fields must always be accurate & Up to date. Cell phone number and addresses are used for system notifications. It is important that these are 100% to ensure your receive your notifications. If your name / surname changed as well as your cell phone number please update. Trainees should ensure that their assigned elective is correct (Auditing and Assurance for all EY trainees) as well as their contract periods. If this information is incorrect please send an to EY HR or LTS support to fix You will need to update and verify your details on first logon and beginning of each new year. Select Profile Users should ensure that they are logged on with the correct profile to perform the necessary LTS activities EY Profile options: Trainee = Learner on SAICA / ICAN / ICAZ contract Reviewer = CSE to AD: to perform TSR & PSR sign offs at least every 2 months Assessor = Registered SAICA Assessor: to sign off on ANAs Counsellor = CSE to AD: To perform ANA reviews, prepare for ANA discussion an mark competencies that assessor may consider for final sign off during trainee’s final year Training Officer = CA: Registered SAICA training officer. To monitor the program and retrieve necessary reports Training Officer Assistant = HR: To manage and coordinate the SAICA program and to get the necessary reports regarding the process or users’ progress on the training program

If not update or inform LTS and Cell phone important to be correct for LTS notifications 1 = Work address, 2 may be updated with another personal address SAICA Contract information must be correct! Update User Details on the USER DETAILS page Note: On first logon you will need to update your personal details & throughout the year when it changes! Edit and add missing details - Ensure all information is accurate. The yellow text boxes are compulsory fields. Important to verify and ensure and cell phone number 100% to receive system notifications. Training period B & C -> discuss impact and not relevant for reporting. More important to ensure correct ANA number selected. For example: This ANA 3 of 6 for 2nd year trainee first ANA!!! Click on ‘Update’ to save all changes and move to your LTS Home Page

Select the Reviewer that should review your SR This is the year and relevant months the work was done that you now review in this SR Indicate the day that the work/project/ assignment start that is reviewed in this SR Indicate the last day the work/project/ assignment is finalised / worked on for this evaluation of this SR 1. SETUP OF TSR/PSR From your LTS LEARNER HOME PAGE click on the hyperlink: Link to Technical Skills Review or Link to Professional Skills Review to start a TSR / PSR Note: Need to do TSR and PSR for each assignment completed / one of each every 2 months! PSR consists of Pervasive and Professional Conduct component Select your assigned Reviewer from the drop down list -> Ordered alphabetically according to Surname, Name. Remember only ONE Reviewer to perform Review. Should be correct -> Assigned Assistant Manager / Manager for the particular assignment The year and months should be indicated that this review is relevant for. Add Client details as well as additional notes that will assist in your review/add value to your training profile. Quick Access to the reviewer: Enter the Surname of the Reviewer to scroll down to the all reviewers starting with the entered characters. All users are displayed on LTS according to Surname, Name layout. WHAT IF REVIEWER NOT ON DROPDOWN? Check if the Manager should be assigned to this Review. If so, then follow up with your training Officer/ Assistant – they need to contact LTS Support with the relevant Manager’s details and contact information. The Reviewer will be on the drop down list as soon as he/she is added or activated on LTS. 2. NEW REVIEW On completion of TSR/ PSR setup click on ‘New Review’ to save the New Review setup information and Start with the process to review your performance. Indicate the actual days spend on the work reviewed in this SR

NOTE: Only the competencies attempted during the engagement needs to be rated PSR: PC: Trainee MUST only give evidence (POSITIVE, SPECIFIC, and preferably VERIFIABLE) No rating. Reviewer will indicate Yes / No to SAICA requirement Pervasive Skills: Trainee MUST give evidence (that is POSITIVE, SPECIFIC, and VERIFIABLE) in support of their assessed level of competence + Rate their level of competence TSR: Trainee must perform a self-assessment Rate and reflect on professional skills utilised to complete the technical activity Trainee only rated the technical skills competencies to which they were exposed during the period that this TSR Trainee should document any comments of their own against each competency, if they deem it necessary. Trainee note: evidence in documented must be POSITIVE, SPECIFIC, and preferably VERIFIABLE Professional conduct competencies: The trainee must record evidence in support of their demonstrated understanding of these competencies. Evidence documented must be POSITIVE, SPECIFIC, and preferably VERIFIABLE. The trainee does not need to perform a self-assessment of these competencies as they will form part of a discussion with the trainee concerning professional conduct during the Assessment Needs Analysis meeting.

FAQ: Trainee: “I need to update the evidence, or make a change to the rating, etc. BUT the Skill review is already assigned to the Reviewer – how should I proceed? A: Discuss the request with and get approval from the Reviewer that you want to update document. If approved, LTS Support and copy your Reviewer in the . You have to indicate in the request that you received approval to re-assign the TSR/PSR back to you as Trainee.
