A compact disc[sometimes spelled as disk] Example A cd is a compact disc that’s full of music or a movie. Picture

3 CPU ? Example The cpu is the central of all programs. Picture
Definition: central processing unit CPU (pronounced as separate letters) is the abbreviation for central processing unit. Sometimes referred to simply as the central processor, but more commonly called processor, the CPU is the brains of the computer where most calculations take place. Example The cpu is the central of all programs. Picture

4 LCD? Definition liquid crystal display LCD (liquid crystal display) is the technology used for displays in notebook and other smaller computers. Like light-emitting diode (LED) and gas-plasma technologies, LCDs allow displays to be much thinner than cathode ray tube (CRT) technology. Example A lcd is a monitor that looks crystal clear on the screen. Picture

5 HDTV? Example The hd-tv looks so good I n every way. Picture
Definition high-definition television HDTV, standing for high-definition television, is a new means of television broadcasting and the machines that take advantage of it. HDTVbroadcasts video digitally (in contrast to the common analog formats PAL, NTSC, and SECAM) and of higher 720 pixels or 1080 pixels resolution. Example The hd-tv looks so good I n every way. Picture

6 HDMI? Example A hd-mi is used to port high definition screens. Picture
Definition: high-definition multimedia interface a standard for connecting high-definition video devices. "most TVs are equipped with at least one HDMI port" Example A hd-mi is used to port high definition screens. Picture

7 HI-DEF? Definition: high definition HiDef (short for high definition), also called 24p, is a 24 frames-per-second digital video format for high-resolution capture of motion pictures. The 24 refers to the frame rate (24 frames/second) and the p stands for progressive scanning (as opposed to interlaced scanning). Example The term hi-def means high definition wich means it will look really good. Picture

8 RAM? Definition: random access memory RAM (random access memory) is the place in a computer where the operating system, application programs, and data in current use are kept so that they can be quickly reached by the computer's processor. Example The ram is used so the computer can procces the application faster. Picture

9 ROM? Definition: Read-only memory Read-only memory (ROM) is a type of storage medium that permanently stores data on personal computers (PCs) and other electronic devices. It contains the programming needed to start a PC, which is essential for boot-up; it performs major input/output tasks and holds programs or software instructions. Example A rom is a chip that only reads memory and not anything eles. Picture

10 MBps? Example These are used for signals for internet or phones.
Definition: millions of bits per second or megabits per second Mbps stands for millions of bits per second or megabits per second and is a measure of bandwidth (the total information flow over a given time) on a telecommunications medium. Example These are used for signals for internet or phones. Picture

11 GB? Definition: gigabites
a unit of information equal to one billion (109) or, strictly, 230 bytes. Example This is how much space the device has. Picture

12 TB? Example This is used for extra storge. Picture
Definition: terabyte A terabyte (TB) is a measure of computer storage capacity that is 2 to the 40th power, or approximately a trillion bytes. A terabyte is more precisely defined as 1,024 gigabytes (GB). The prefix tera is derived from the Greek word for monster. Example This is used for extra storge. Picture

13 IP? Example The ip is used to find the name or address of that device.
Definition: Internet Protocol An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g., computer, printer) participating in a computernetwork that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IPaddress serves two principal functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing. Example The ip is used to find the name or address of that device. Picture

14 CD-R? Example This type of cd can be used to record tv or videos.
Definition: Compact Disc Recordable Stands for "Compact Disc Recordable." CD-R discs are blank CDs that can record data written by a CD burner. The word "recordable" is used because CD-Rs are often used to record audio, which can be played back by most CD players. Example This type of cd can be used to record tv or videos. Picture

15 CD-RW? Example A cdrw disk can be use to rewright a format. Picture
Definition: Compact Disc-ReWritable CD-RW (Compact Disc-ReWritable) is a digital optical disc storage format. A CD-RW disc is a compact disc that can be written, read arbitrarily many times, erased, and written again. The technology was introduced in 1997. Example A cdrw disk can be use to rewright a format. Picture

16 MODEM? Example A modem can be used to transmite data over. Picture
Definition: modulator-demodulator Short for modulator-demodulator. A modem is a device or program that enables a computer to transmit data over, for example, telephone or cable lines. Computer information is stored digitally, whereas information transmitted over telephone lines is transmitted in the form of analog waves. Example A modem can be used to transmite data over. Picture

17 APP? Definition: application An application, or application program, is a software program that runs on your computer. Web browsers, programs, word processors, games, and utilities are all applications. The word "application" is used because each program has a specific application for the user.Oct 12, 2008 Example An app is a application that has its own program such as youtube to stream videos. Picture

18 AMD? Example The amd crads/chips are used as programmers for devices.
Definition: Advance micro device AMD is the second largest maker of personal computermicroprocessors after Intel. They also make flash memory, integrated circuits for networking devices, and programmable logic devices. AMDreports that it has sold over 100 million x86 (Windows-compatible) microprocessors. Example The amd crads/chips are used as programmers for devices. Picture

19 LAN? Definition: local area network A local area network (LAN) is a computer network that interconnectscomputers within a limited area such as a residence, school, laboratory, or office building. Example I can not take my school computer out of school because then the lan will be disconnected. Picture

20 USB? Example A usb is used to transfer files or even memory. Picture
Definition: Universal Serial Bus Short for Universal Serial Bus, an external bus standard that supports data transfer rates of 12 Mbps. A single USB port can be used to connect up to 127 peripheral devices, such as mice, modems, and keyboards. Example A usb is used to transfer files or even memory. Picture

21 MP3? Definition:MPEG-1 Audio Layer III
a means of compressing a sound sequence into a very small file, to enable digital storage and transmission. Example I use a mp3 to store older songs. Picture

22 MP4? Definition:MPEG-1 Audio Layer IIIl
a means of compressing a sound sequence into a very small file, to enable digital storage and transmission Example I use a mp4 to store all my music. Picture

23 SD? Example The sd card is a smaller version of the sdhc. Picture
Definition: Secure Digital Card An SD Card (Secure Digital Card) is an ultra small flash memory card designed to provide high- capacity memory in a small size. SD cards are used in many small portable devices such as digital video camcorders, digital cameras, handheldcomputers, audio players and mobile phones.
