1 Scientist 1: Edward Jenner
L.O: to describe Jenners’ contribution to the Germ Theory of Disease Starter: Match up the era on the left, to the idea about disease on the right. ***Keep all the left column in order, ONLY cut out the boxes from the column on the right** Check with me before you stick them down!

2 Prehistoric An imbalance in one of the four ‘humors’ of the body (blood, yellow bile, black bile and phlegm) caused disease. Egyptian The miasma theory was ignored, as religion became widespread and the idea that disease was from God, and prayer was the cure. Greek The scientific method was created and knowledge of anatomy increased due to drawings by da Vinci and Michelangeo. But the miasma theory was back! Roman Spirits were the cause and cure of disease. Medieval War gave the opportunity to study wounds, but it was thought that bad air (miasma) was the cause of disease. Renaissance Observations of organs through mummification gave rise to the ‘Channel Theory’ of disease where an evil spirit blocked a channel, thus causing disease.
