3 Affixes Affixes are an additional element placed at the beginning or end of a root, stem, or word, or in the body of a word, to modify its meaning. Example: Root word: Proud Affix: Proudly These affixes have different names based on where they are positioned Prefixes Suffixes

4 Prefix A prefix is an affix that come at the beginning of the root word Examples: un-, pre-, dis-, tri-, etc. Prefix words Tricycle Universe Predator Distance

5 Suffix An affix that comes at the end of the root word Examples: -ly, -ism,- ship, -ful Badly Heroism Friendship Beautiful
