1 Pastoral Care in CCPS

2 . Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression. “The most effective kind of education is that a child should play amongst lovely things.”- Plato

3 It takes a village to raise a child
Would like to share 2 quotes – one – it takes a village to raise a child. Here the emphasis shows that a community’s effort is needed to bring up a child. There are many groups – most important – parents, relatives, neighbours…, the school in which the child will spend at least 10 yrs of schooling, with the compulsory act.

4 A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every passerby leaves a mark
The 1st one shows the community and the people involved, this second quote tells us so important how the community, people who interact will the child leave some influence on the child.

5 Mission of CCPS To develop our pupils to be “whole persons”, emphasizing the “Formation of the Heart”. In CCPS, we are part of the pupils’ community and influence. How do we want to see our pupils develop? We want our pupils to develop as a whole person, emphasizing on the heart – meaning – we want them to learn – acquire the knowledge and skills (reading, mathematics) and at the same time to have be a person who cares and takes care of herself, care for others as well.

6 Choosing Right Programme
The life skill programme is based on a psychological theory – Choice Theory, developed by well known psychiatrist Dr William Glasser In CCPS, we have a lifeskill package – based on psychological theory developed by Dr William Glasser.

7 Choosing Right Theory Objectives
- To allow pupils’ to be more aware of their behaviours - To help them self-evaluate and make responsible choices In P1, we focus on building the child’s self esteem – allow the child to discover herself, what she is good at, her talents. Accepting themselves. They will also be briefly be introduced to the basic needs – survival, love and belonging, freedom, power and importance, fun. So the lessons will allow the child to look at what are these needs – for example, what she want most – for example – she would want friends – that is really very “normal” because at this age, they want to have this sense of love and belonging, the acceptance of people around them.

8 Pastoral Care Lesson The Pastoral Care lessons seek to raise an awareness - of the existence of a higher being and - the importance of having positive moral values and attitudes. Being in a mission school, we would like our girls to be aware of some of the religion in the community. We would give information on catholicism and also provide information on the other religion or ask the classmates of the other faith to share their beliefs and practices.

The Community Involvement Programme provides opportunities for pupils to show care and concern to others and the environment.
