Pick an area you would like to improve Get feedback from 4 people -- My name is _____ I want to get better at _______. The other person will give you 1-2 ideas of HOW You say nothing. Say THANK YOU Switch Rules No feedback about the past Do not defend/judge/critique/justify Encourage people to pick something from their heart that they know they need feedback on. Debrief This exercise was? Why? How many of you felt the need to say, “I have that problem too?”

Learn to listen non-defensively – no judging, critiquing/justifying Focus on how you can do it different in the future Treat Feedback as a gift Learn to say thank you Bullet 1 – learn to ask for input rather than waiting to receive it. Better yet what if you came to people first and said, “Hey I think I need to work on this”. Those people might think wow this person is self-aware After presenting all SAY: If you are a manager the best way to get your staff to engage in an exercise like this is to lead the way
