4 SUGGEST VERB PATTERNS SUGGEST/RECOMMEND + POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVE + ING She suggested our spending time on verb patterns. She suggested my spending … I suggested her spending … THIS STRUCTURE IS MORE FORMAL AND MORE COMMON IN WRITTEN ENGLISH.

5 SUGGEST VERB PATTERNS SUGGEST CANNOT BE USED WITH A DIRECT OBJECT AND THE FULL INFINITIVE. RECOMMEND CAN BE USED WITH A DIRECT OBJECT AND THE FULL INFINITIVE. (It is a less common structure but it is grammatically correct).
