4 Student Responsibilities
Attend regularly Be on time for all classes

5 An absence is an absence
All absences will be marked as unexcused or excused and will be included when we look at overall absences for exemption and attendance policy decisions.

6 Four Lates = 1 Unexcused Absence
If you are late for class 4 times, this will be an unexcused absence. There are no exam exemptions for students with any unexcused absences.

7 School Activities As always, students travelling for school based activities will have ‘ACT’ to mark their absence. ACT is not an absence

8 Special Circumstance The only special circumstance that will be considered is a death in a student’s immediate family.

9 Exam Exemptions The rules for exemptions remain the same. Students must not have more than 6 excused absences in any class and meet other criteria in order to receive an exemption.

10 Exam Exemptions Other than a death in a student’s immediate family, there will be no special circumstance absences considered for exemptions.

11 Exam Exemptions Students who have more than 6 absences will not receive an exam exemption.

12 Important Dates Attendance for exam exemptions and attendance interventions began on the first day of the semester (February 6)

13 Getting Caught Up Teachers will not provide work packages for students who will be absent.

5 absences – parents contacted

15 Interventions for Absences
10 absences – parent meeting requested

16 Interventions for Absences
15 absences – second parent meeting request

17 Interventions for Absences
20 absences – loss of credit

18 Improved attendance = greater student success
