2. Our Challenge:
In a few weeks, we'll be bringing isopods into the classroom and we'll need to set up a place for them to live. Before then, we'll need to figure out what, exactly, an organism like this needs in order to survive.
We will be putting our isopods into terrariums.
What do you think would happen if we put them into an empty terrarium?

3. We want to keep our isopods alive and healthy!
Our challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to figure out the environmental factors that influence the isopods and the conditions that will keep them healthy.
An environmental factor is one part of the environment.

4. By the end you will have created a habitat for your isopods
By the end you will have created a habitat for your isopods. Not only that, you will keep track of what you do throughout the unit so at the end you can share your findings with an audience.

5. What is a habitat?
A habitat is the natural home of an organism, like a plant or an animal. When we create a home for an organism in the classroom, we are creating an unnatural habitat.

Can you think of a time when you've cared for another organism? What conditions were needed to keep that organism alive and healthy?
