2 What puts you at risk of getting sick?
In Canada, how long do you think males and females live on average? Females = 81 Male = 75 In Sierra Leone, an African country? Females = 35 Male = 33 Why are they so different?

3 What about communicable diseases?
How many people do you think die from communicable diseases every year in Canada? 6% How many in Sierra Leone? 42% Why?

4 What about non-communicable diseases?
How many people do you think die from non- communicable diseases every year in Canada? 86% How many in Sierra Leone? 47% Why?

5 So what puts us at risk? As a group, brainstorm things that no matter where you live, would increase your chance of getting sick?

12 Now it’s your turn… Work on “How does food preservation keep food safe” worksheet. When finished, work on the Think and Link Investigation “Let’s go on a picnic!” Read the “Spoiled Food Test” – for laughs – it is not to be taken seriously!!
