4 Co-op Eligibility Co-op Eligibility IS AS FOLLOWS:
In order to be eligible to participate in a co-op or internship position, the student must have successfully completed all required courses for all terms preceding the RECRUITMENT term; BE ENROLLED IN (OR PASSED) ALL THE COURSES IN THE RECRUITMENT TERM; have a minimum program cumulative GPA of 2.5, or greater Co-op Eligibility for the Winter recruitment WAS determined The first week of the winter term. those individuals who (according to my records) have not met the criteria HAVE beEN ed.

5 Co-op Eligibility If you received an and feel this is in error, you need to see me personally immediately to seek a fix. (I will not deal with this issue via nor telephone.) Those who do not meet the co-op eligibility will not be allowed to go out on co-op. At the end of the Winter semester, a second eligibility audit will be done to assess if you have maintained your co-op eligibility. If you have secured a co-op but have not maintained your co-op eligibility, your employer will be contacted. It will be up to that employer if they wish to continue with the co-op or rescind the offer.

YOU HAVE BEEN ED THIS SURVEY If you are serious about participating in co-op, you must complete this survey and return it to PATTI HELPS IN THE MYCAREER CENTRE no later than: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7 Anyone who does not complete the survey will be considered “not seeking” co-op and will be removed from the recruitment.

Justin Gingerich (Job Developer) will be concentrating on Lambton County; major cities & municipalities within a 2 hour radius of Sarnia; OCWA; American Water & Viola. YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO ALSO CONDUCT YOUR OWN INDEPENDENT JOB SEARCH, CONCENTRATING ON AREAS OUTSIDE OF WHERE JUSTIN IS CONCENTRATING. AS YOU MAKE YOUR PLANS TO CONTACT COMPANIES, PLEASE DROP IN ON JUSTIN IN ADVANCE TO TALK TO HIM ABOUT YOUR PLANS. HE WILL WORK IN TANDEM WITH YOU TO HELP YOU. KEEP ADJUSTING YOUR STRATEGY AND EXPAND YOUR JOB SEARCH (WHILE WORKING WITH JUSTIN)

If you have a specific industry/company you’re looking into and aren’t sure how to proceed, connect with Justin as he can potentially make calls on your behalf or may have helpful information in that area Do you have prior education/training? Complete the “Co-op Check List” BY FEBRUARY 2 Check the myCareer System daily for new job postings Attend the resume & interview workshops Book a resume review with Patti helps immediately following the resume workshop (not before!)

26 YOUR Next Steps… As you contact companies, stay connected with Justin so that you both can work in tandem. Keep adjusting your strategy and expanding your search area while working with Justin VERBAL ACCEPTANCE (OR VIA ) IS CONSIDERED BINDING AND SIGNALS THE END OF YOUR JOB SEARCH. If you secure a co-op, you must come and see Patti Helps within 24 hours to complete the appropriate paperwork Work Place Insurance and Liability Insurance is available through the college if you secure a volunteer co-op. Proper paperwork must be done within 24 hours through Patti Helps

28 Financial Assistance for Volunteer
DOMESTIC students: If you are on OSAP and you secure a volunteer co-op, speak to financial aid regarding funding options. There is a “Study Period Extension Form – Volunteer Co-op” form that you need to complete and submit to Jessica in Financial Aid.
