2 HOW MANY CLASSES CAN I EXEMPT?
9TH GRADE = 1 CLASS 10TH GRADE = up to 2 CLASSES 11th GRADE = up to 3 CLASSES 12th GRADE = up to 3 CLASSES (All classes next semester if you are eligible) Semester exams count as 15% of your semester average BUT YOU MUST MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS…

3 EXEMPTION GUIDELINES GRADES & ABSENCES
Course Average of A = up to 3 absences Course Average of B = up to 2 absences Course Average of C = no more than 1 absence 3 Tardies = 1 absence **All dependent on individual classes**

Extenuating Circumstances – Absences If you had an absence due to an extenuating circumstance, you must complete an application form Forms are found in your Grade Level AP’s office Forms are due NOW

5 Extenuating Circumstance (cont.)
Absences considered: Student surgery Student hospitalization Death of an immediate family member Supporting documentation must be provided (hospital note or obituary or funeral service handout)

Absences NOT considered: Flight delays Weather delays Full day absences for illness even with a doctor’s note Maximum of 2 days will be granted The decision is final

7 EXEMPTION GUIDELINES (cont)
DISCIPLINE CANNOT EXEMPT IF YOU HAVE… N in Conduct – cannot exempt THAT class U in Conduct – cannot exempt ANY class More than six (6) hours of combined detentions ISS (In School Suspension) OSS (Out of School Suspension)

CLASSES Cannot exempt the same class both semesters Ex. If you exempt Algebra I this semester, you cannot exempt it again in the spring. Students must attend school during exam week for all classes/courses (fine arts, athletics, study hall, student aide, etc.) unless an exam exemption has been earned in that area.

EXEMPTION CARDS *All holds and fines must be cleared in order to pick up your exemption card* December 4th Distributed during lunches December 5th December 8th Cards DUE to AP OFFICE

What do I do with the card? Take your card to the class or classes you want to exempt The teacher will check your grade and attendance The teacher will sign off on your card Turn your card in to your Grade Level Assistant Principal’s office on or before Friday, December 8th.

11 EXAM SCHEDULE See Fall Semester Exam Schedule for class times
Students must attend 4th and 5th Periods Tues.-Thurs. Monday, December 11th Regular Schedule Tuesday, December 12th 7th Period Exam Wednesday, December 13th 1st & 6th Period Exams Thursday, December 14th 2nd & 3rd Period Exams Friday, December 15th *Early Dismissal 4th & 5th Period Exams

13 EXEMPTIONS – Misc. Info Students who exempt a class are expected to be off campus during that exam time Students who ride the bus either in the morning or afternoon, may report to the Main Commons during their exempted class Friday, December 15th, is the only ½ day/early release – 11:35 AM. Buses will run at normal times the other days

14 Power Reviews Review sessions being offered to help you with your exams Cost is $5 per session Courses offered will be based on teacher availability

Tuesday, December 5th 3:00 – 4:30 Wednesday, December 6th Thursday, December 7th SIGN UP in Main Commons during ALL LUNCHES on… Friday, December 1st Monday, December 4th Remember: Some classes may not be offered
