4 A Quick Introduction Technology is becoming more and more prevalent throughout the education sector and all of its sub sectors. Whether we are talking about university entrance exams, vocational and professional bodies assessment or online education providers. This observation leads organically into the path of our greater theme of maximizing student potential. This comes in a multitude of manifestations, but the goal remains the same helping the student. The Middle East and Africa Region has always outperformed for it’s size in the field of educational investment, educational technology, and engaging with the student in the most cutting edge ways – It was a natural step to bring ATP to the region, to help lead the conversation, and create the agenda.

5 Conference Topics Computer Based Testing : The end of the pencil and paper exam? This topic covers K-12 testing, standardized exams, professional and vocational exams, effectively; where CBT has begun or has become the industry standard Digital Humanities : The rise of educational technology in non-STEM fields Addresses the ways in which technology has made its mark in the world of humanities and social sciences, and the arts Online Learning Resources: Focuses on all forms of online education, whether free or paid, whether college-credited or not. Examples: ACT Academy, Khan Academy, Edx, Coursera, MIT Opencourseware Learning Management systems: Effectiveness of systems and their value in all sectors: K-12, tertiary, and corporate Educational Technology and Globalization/Internationalization (The role of educational technology in the multinational classroom) Whether by international schools, or by local schools offering internationally recognized US or UK based curriculum, as well as tertiary education’s drive towards promoting international classrooms, and satellite campuses

7 The Sessions Breakout Sessions: A Breakout Session is a 45/60-minute presentation that explores one or more of the Session Topics. Each Breakout Session must include a minimum of two presenters from two different companies or organizations. Interactive Workshops: An Interactive Workshop is a 1.5-hour block of time where participants learn and interact through structured group exercises/participation. Workshops can cover a variety of Session Topics and provide attendees hands-on experience. Workshops must include a minimum of two presenters or facilitators from two different organizations and should plan significant time for attendee interaction. Peas in a Pod Discussions: Peas in a Pod Discussions are informal, face-to-face conversations with fellow conference goers who share common interests. Pods do not include presentations. There are no projectors or slides. presentations. There are no projectors or slides. This is all about direct exchange and exploration of ideas. Product Demonstrations: A Product Demonstration is a computer-based demonstration or presentation showcasing the latest technologies, products, services, or solutions in the testing industry. A Product Demonstration should last approximately 10 minutes and repeat throughout a 1.5-hour timeframe that occurs at the same time as Interactive Workshops are scheduled. All demonstrations must be shown via a computer or other technology. A large, flat screen monitor will be provided, but you will be required to provide your own compatible device (e.g., laptop, tablet). Snapshot Sessions: 30-minute interactive breakout sessions. This new session type allows the presenter to get information to the audience in a quicker format than a full breakout session. These sessions should explore one or more of this year’s theme topics. MEA-ATP *NEW* SESSION: Research Roundtable: Focusing on researchers (academics and graduate students in the region). They will be encouraged to attend a specific colloquium whereby they can present their research, and receive valuable feedback, and engage with the sector as a whole.
