2 Question What is the effect of the angle of the launcher on the distance the cap will travel?

3 Hypothesis If the angle of the launcher is at 30⁰ then the cap will travel the farthest because if it was 15⁰ it would hit the ground. If it was 60⁰ it would travel upwards and drop.If it was 45⁰ then the cap will go slightly farther than 60⁰

4 Controlled Variables (The variables that do NOT change)
The amount of alka seltzer The amount of water The temperature of the water The weight of the cap The place of the launcher The weather

5 Manipulated Variable The angle of the launcher.

6 Responding Variable (The variable that is measured)
The distance that the cap travels

8 Materials Water Alka seltzer Launcher Film canister Film cap Syringe
Measuring tape Data table

9 Procedure (Write EACH and EVERY step in order. Include every step one needs to take to replicate the experiment exactly! Gather all materials. 2. Set the angle to 300. 3. Put film canister in launcher. 4. Tighten film canister in launcher. 5. Fill film canister with 20 ml of water. 6. Quickly put alka seltzer in film canister and snap cap on. 7. Wait for cap to land. 8. Measure distance cap traveled. 9. Repeat steps 2-8 three times. 10. Set launcher to 450. 11. Repeat steps 3-8 thrice. 12. Set launcher to 600. 13. Repeat steps 3-8 thrice. 14. Record results in data table.

10 Data Table: How Angle of the launcher Affected the Distance
Responding Variable: Distance the Cap Traveled Manipulated Variable: Trial 1 Trial 2 Trial 3 Average 30 349 cm 355cm 371cm 358.33cm 45 466 cm 496 cm 546 cm 502.66cm 60 328cm 400cm 399 cm 375.66cm

12 Conclusion and Results
Based on our results, we concluded that when the angle of the launcher is at 45 degrees, the cap travels the farthest. When it is at 45 degrees, the cap travels cm on average. When the launcher is at 30 degrees, the cap travels cm on average. And when the launcher is at 60 degrees, it travels cm on average. This shows that when the angle of the launcher is at 45 degrees, the cap travels the farthest

13 Additional Questions Why did the cap not shoot one of the times?
2. How does the Alka-Seltzer make the cap shoot? 3. How far would the cap go if the angle was 50o?
