6 Designing A+: Engineering Your Creative A+ School
SUMMER FOCUS Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better. ~Samuel Beckett Designing A+: Engineering Your Creative A+ School ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS How are we designing creative learning at our school and how do the A+ Essentials blend with that work? How does the design process help us to seek out the questions we want to answer about A+ implementation and create processes that support our vision? There was a strong focus on the design thinking process and on the benefits of failure during the summer conferences for returning schools. Most of our new schools stuck to our new school theme of “Cooking Up a Quality A+ School”! How do challenges help us to deepen our creative quality? Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it's really how it works. ~Steve Jobs

8 Ongoing A+ Professional Development
PLANNING FORWARD FOR CONTINUED A+ GROWTH & SUSTAINABILITY Ongoing A+ Professional Development Teacher Engagement Principal Leadership Highly-Engaged & Sustainable A+ School Research from OK A+ Schools has validated the three key components that lead to a highly engaged and sustainable A+ School. These are Principal Leadership, Teacher Engagement and Ongoing A+ PD. When these three areas are all strong, then the school is highly-engaged and sustainable. When of the components is reduced, the school may need additional support to regain their balance.

9 SCHOOL NEXT STEPS What needs to be done next to keep the A+ momentum going? What structures and resources need to put in place at the school/classroom level to support continued A+ implementation and growth? How are you evaluating your progress over the short and long term? What do you need to share with your students, parents and school community and how will you share it? What do you need next from A+? As part of the A+ Network, each school needs to be thinking about how they are doing, where they can grow and how A+ might help.

10 PROJECT BASED LEARNING
WHAT INITIATIVES ARE YOU WITH A+ AT YOUR SCHOOL? LEADER IN ME STEM/STEAM PROJECT BASED LEARNING What initiatives are in place at your school? We are working to make sure that our A+ Fellows are well-versed in the various initiatives that our schools are participating in. This helps us to make sure that our PD is both relevant and connected to each school’s work and vision. DESIGN THINKING 1:1 OR BYOD
