We will analyze texts and craft a thesis statement to argue for which is supported the best.

7 Culminating Task As part of this unit, you have learned about the issue of sleep by reading, viewing, and discussing texts. These texts provided different points of view (arguments) supported with reasons and evidence from a variety of sources. You have learned that reasons and evidence from credible sources are a crucial component of an effective argument. This task asks you to use what you learned in the unit to come up with your point of view about the quality of the argument that each author made in his or her text.

8 Culminating Task Info Analyze your texts and completed “Analyzing an Argument” charts to determine which author you will argue for. Determine three main reasons why you believe one author supported his/her argument about sleep better than the others.

9 Thesis Statement Create a thesis statement for your essay based on your three main reasons. Peer Edit Edit your elbow partner’s thesis statement to ensure it has all of the previously taught parts: Their position (argument) Three reasons why they took that position. Everything is in one sentence.
