(RI 8.2) Summary of “Civil Rights Movement: An Overview” using Central Idea circle diagram: In the Scholastic article, “Civil Rights Movement: An Overview,” the author provides an objective explanation of the movement’s intentions, which were to secure African American’s opportunities for basic privileges and rights of U.S citizenship. Many people such as Rosa Parks, Brown v. Board of Education, and Martin Luther King Jr. were factors in that fight for rights. These individuals fought to end segregation in southern states and cities. Boycotts were organized by African American men and women to protest the buses segregated seating policy. There were numerous attempts of resistance to many factors of life in the South during this time.
