2 Why is George Stephenson famous
George Stephenson was an engineer. He built steam locomotives for the first railways. Sometimes people call him 'the Father of the Railway. This is the man who invented the ROCKET that is a type train that won the rainhill trials because it went back an forth 20 times didn’t cost over 550 pounds or weigh over 6 tonnes .

3 George and his son Robert Stephenson George Stephenson built many railways. His son Robert helped him. George paid for Robert to go to school, and to university in Edinburgh. Father and son did homework together, so George could learn more too. Robert spent three years in South America, before coming home to help build the Rocket.

5 RAINHILL TRIALS The Rainhill Trials was a competion in 1829 6 october
Quite a few trains entered but some were horse pulled ones. So in the end Only three trains were chosen to go down a track 20 times including the rocket The novelty and the sans parelle.
