2 Do Now: Copy and attempt to answer the following essential question in your notebook.
How do scientific ideas change over time? How has new technology allowed scientists to add to scientific knowledge?

This is a short video clip of amazing underwater sea creatures. As you watch, think about why we only recently have been able to observe these creatures. ments/up-next

4 Video Discussion Why have we only recently (10 years ago) been able to observe these creatures? We recently developed the technology (e.g., cameras that can go deep underwater) to go underwater to observe these creatures.

5 Student Work Read the article “Fish with a See-Through Head” from through-head twice. On your first read, underline everything that describe the fish’s forehead. On the second read, circle everything scientists can do now that scientists couldn’t do 70 years ago. fish-video-vin

11 Homework: Find a Research Project Topic
Research another example of how scientific knowledge has changed throughout history, specifically because of technology or due to new interpretations. Come to class tomorrow with at least 2 sources (can be online or print)
