7 Getting latitude and longitude
Right-click on the desired location on map. Select What's Here? from menu to get latitude and longitude.

8 Saving places to My places
Click the star in the info window to save a place to My places. Find a list of your saved places by clicking on My places at maps.google.com. Note: you must be signed in with a Google account to save to My places.

11 Create a new map Go to maps.google.com. Click the My places button.
Click Create Map. Give your map a title and a description.

12 Add a placemark Click the placemark button to add a new placemark.
Click and drag the placemark to desired location. Add a name and description to your placemark. Change the icon. Click OK. 

13 Add a line Click the line button and select Draw a line option.
Click on the map to create a line.  Double-click on the last point to end the line. Add a name and description. Change the line color. Click OK.

14 Add a polygon Click the line button and select Draw a shape option.
Click on the map to create a shape.  Double-click on the last point to end the shape. Add a name and description. Change the polygon color and opacity. Click OK.

15 Add an image to the info window
Click on a placemark in the sidebar or on the map. Switch to Rich text editor. Click on the image icon. Copy and paste the URL of your image. Click OK. Sample URL: 

16 Add a YouTube video to the info window
Find the YouTube video you want. Copy the embed code. Click on a placemark in the sidebar or on the map. Switch to HTML editor. Paste the embed code into the description field of your placemark. Click OK.

17 Import a KML to your map Click Import.
Browse your desktop for a KML file or enter the URL of a KML hosted on the web. Click Upload. View your KML on the map. Sample KML:

18 Collaborating on your Map

19 Collaborate on Your Map
Click Collaborate. Add the s with which you want to share the map. Click Send invitations.

20 Set permissions for your map
Public: Shared with everyone Searchable on the web Unlisted: Shared only with selected people who have the map's URL Public, but hidden Not searchable on the web

21 Share a link to your map Click the link icon.
Copy the URL and share it with others. To get a shorter URL (for sharing on social media), select the Short URL check box.

22 Share your map on Google+
Click Share... button. Add comments and select which circles you would like to share the map with. Click Share. See your post in your stream.

23 Embedding a map in a website

24 Embed your map on a website
Click on the Link icon. Customize and preview the map as you'd like it to appear on your website. Copy the embed code. Paste the code into your website or blog.
