5. BC on a timeline = Before Christ BCE = Before Common Era

On a timeline, BC is like a negative number line. As time moves forward, the numbers decrease until 1 BC.
To figure out how many years have passed between events, you must find the difference, or SUBTRACT the numbers.

6. AD on a timeline = Anno Domini CE = Common Era
which is Latin for “in the year of our Lord”
CE = Common Era

600 AD
1100 AD
1800 AD
On a timeline, AD is like a positive number line. As the timeline goes forward, the numbers gets larger.
To figure out how many years have passed between events, you must find the difference, or SUBTRACT the numbers.
