1 I’ve started a career in DT…

2 Lucy McAdam A Levels: Maths – A* Physics – B Further Maths – B University course – Mechanical engineering at the University of Leeds (it’s a Masters course with an optional year in industry) Work experience Summer internship with a company called AECOM working in the department for the sustainable development of buildings. This will involve working with architects in design buildings to make them more environmentally friendly and energy efficient. (I haven’t actually done this placement yet, I start at the beginning of July and will be working there full time for 8 weeks) Universities generally really encourage students to get summer placements because if they go successfully it is quite likely that the company will go on to offer them a position for a year in industry (which can take place between 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 4th year of the degree). This then gives us more chance of securing a graduate placement/offer either with the same company or increases our chances securing one with another company too.
