2 The Knowledge Qualification
What is a degree apprenticeship? The Apprenticeship Training 20% ‘off the job’ 80% ‘on the job’ training Subsidiary activity which may or may not have a qualification attached The Knowledge Qualification BSc/BA (Hons) degree Subsidiary activity which may or may not have a qualification attached

3 Benefits Combining academic study with paid related work and experience No cost to the apprentice – no fees, no loan to repay Sponsorship from a motivated, engaged employer A foot in the door

4 How to apply? On the government apprenticeship web site where all apprenticeships are advertised. Minimum criteria for will be specified for each qualification – BTEC or A level qualification GCSE English and maths at minimum A - C grade - (grade 9 – 4) The application will then go directly to the College where the apprenticeship is managed and delivered. Shortlisting will occur and if selected candidates are interviewed by the employer If you successful in securing a post with the employer this automatically accepts you onto the degree apprenticeship.

5 What degree apprenticeships are available?
This is industry led provision - skills gaps Since April this year apprenticeships have been funded differently Levy paying - pay roll over £3million Non levy paying - every other firm What is UCW providing?

Standards BSc (Hons) Digital Technology Solutions BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering BEng (Hons) Electronics Engineering Higher Apprenticeship Framework HNC/D Engineering – with various pathways HNC/D Construction and the Build Environment FdSc Health and Social Care Practice FdSc Integrated mental Health and Social Care Plans for future programmes including cyber security, management

7 Commitment Higher Apprenticeship usually 2 years
Degree apprenticeship 4 or 5 years
