2. The Wave Model
Medium of a mechanical wave is the substance through or along which the wave moves
A wave passing creates a disturbance of the particles of the medium (pulse)
Once created the disturbance travels at the wave speed.
Waves transfer energy but the medium does not move!

Water waves have characteristics of both transverse and longitudinal waves (surface waves).
Surface waves are two dimensional waves
