Introduction

What You Need to Know… The business section is divided into five sections: Accounting & Finance Business Administration Support Marketing Human Resources Hospitality & Tourism The business section is 23 days long. If you were to cover every lesson provided, it would take 35 days. Therefore—pick and choose carefully, but make sure you are teaching the required information. You are no longer required to teach the given lessons. As long as you follow the standards and strands for this class, you can create your own work. However, as a new teacher, the given lessons can save you a lot of time and hassle!

Sample Schedule I have provided a sample schedule that just shows the way I teach the class. This is only for your information— you do not need to use it. But the Excel sheet can be quite useful in planning your day. You have access to a blank one and my example one.

A Word on Auctions Auctions have long been a part of this class and can be a great way to motivate students. When this class changed to CCA, many teachers dropped the Auction portion. This is an option, but I highly recommend auctions as a reward and something to work for in the final project, if it is in your budget.

Staycation can be done in lots of ways, but I wanted to share the way I do it, if that helps. All the files are available on my website, and you are welcome to tweak them however you wish. Assign students to groups of 3 or 4 Each group chooses a location in Utah Each group creates 3 ads to advertise the location. (Groups of 3 do 2) Group presents one of the three to the class in a presentation Students fill out a group evaluation for grading Students earn points & money—the money is used for the final auction.
