Financial Support INTI Programme ( ) - preparatory actions trans-national projects which promote co-operation between Member States, their regional and local authorities as well as other stakeholders to encourage dialogue with civil society, support awareness on integration issues, develop integration models, seek out, evaluate and exchange good practice on integration and set up networks at European level

Financial Support The European Fund for the Integration of third-country nationals (2007 – 2013) Decision 2007/435/EC, 25 June 2007 825 million € to support the integration challenges that Europe is facing to create a new form of solidarity to promote Member States' efforts in enabling immigrants to fulfil conditions of residence and to facilitate their integration to help Member States to share their best practice reinforcing cooperation at EU level

Financial Support The European Fund for the Integration of third-country nationals Target Group Third-country national legally residing in the EU Member States (therefore Roma only if TCNs) Third‑country nationals who are on the territory of a third country and who are complying with specific pre‑departure measures and/or conditions set out in national law including those relating to the ability to integrate in the society of this MS EIF does not cover the integration for refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection falling under the European Refugee Fund and is complementary to the European Social Fund

Financial Support The European Fund for the Integration of third-country nationals 768 million € for National Programmes distributed among the MS Specific priorities (allow increase of co-financing from 50% to 75%): Multiannual and Annual programmes. Shared management 57 million € for Community Actions (7% of the total annual resources each year)

Financial Support The EIF National Programmes: strategic guidelines General priorities: in the MAP, 3 out of 4, n1 and n.2 mandatory Implementation of actions designed to put the CBPs into practice Development of indicators and evaluation methodologies to assess progress, adjust policies and measures and to facilitate co-ordination of comparative Learning Policy capacity building, co-ordination and intercultural competence building in the Member States across the different levels and departments of government Exchange of experience, good practice and information on integration between the Member States

13 Financial Support The EIF National programmes Specific priorities: from 50% to 75% Participation Specific target groups: women, youth and children Innovative introduction programmes and activities Intercultural dialogue Involvement of the host society, raising awareness

14 National Programmes: evaluation ongoing
Financial Support The EIF National Programmes: evaluation ongoing Deadline for MS presenting national programmes to COM was 1st of December. COM has 3 months time to adopt financial decision, but revisions stop the clock. Each Member State shall organise a partnership: regional, local, urban and other public authorities, international organisations and bodies representing civil society such as nongovernmental organisations, including migrant organisations, or social partners.

15 Next call (AWP 2008) in the coming months
Financial Support The EIF Community Actions Evaluation of transnational projects (AT LEAST 5 MS) is ongoing, deadline was 31 January Enhance interaction between Third-Country Nationals and Member State citizens and promote integration measures and best practices targeted at society as a whole Promote integration strategies and measures targeted at different immigrant groups Reinforce the complementary linkage between migration and integration policies Next call (AWP 2008) in the coming months

16 EESC explanatory opinion
Financial support The EIF Community Actions: The European integration Forum INTEGRATION FORUM to assemble a range of stakeholders active in the area of integration at EU level, representatives of civil society, NGOS EESC explanatory opinion Preparatory Conference on the 29th and 30th of April: EU umbrella non governmental organisations, National Contact Points on Integration and consultative bodies representing Civil society will be invited to participate to discuss future tasks, membership and structure of the Forum

17 The way forward June 2007: Council conclusions on the strengthening of integration policies in the EU by promoting unity in diversity September 2007: As a follow-up, Commission announces in the 3rd Annual Report its commitment to pursue new priorities to further develop the EU framework for integration. These include: participation, citizenship, naturalisation exploring the idea of common European modules for migrant integration measures targeted at the host society integration efforts to prevent social alienation common indicators and indexes
