19 How did the Age of Exploration Impact…
Spanish Europeans: Created New Spain in North/South America. Found actual gold/wealth by conquering natives. Achieved “glory” through discoveries. Converted natives to Christianity (“God” goal). French Europeans: Created New France/Quebec in North America. Found “gold” through friendly fish/fur trade with natives. Found “glory” by discovering land and waterways in North America. Achieved “God” by converting natives to Christianity. Dutch Europeans: Created New Netherland in what is today New York and New Jersey. Found “gold” through trade in New Amsterdam (NYC today). Found “glory” by creating successful trading colony in New Amsterdam. Did not achieve “God”- were not interested in converting natives. Native Americans: Established trade relationships with European countries. Exposed to new diseases. Many taken as slaves by Spanish. Loss of land and culture.

20 Effects of Exploration
European Countries establish colonies in the Americas. Columbian Exchange introduces trade between Old and New World. Native Americans begin to lose land, culture, and their lives.
