This CPD event is being offered free to all Hertfordshire schools (KS 2 & 3) who are passionate about equipping their pupils to make a positive contribution to a globalised world. The Global Learning Programme (GLP) teaches pupils about the challenges our world faces and to think critically about how to tackle issues such as poverty, inequality and sustainability.
The aim of the day is to provide support to schools for developing a whole school approach to global learning. Sessions will be delivered by practising teachers, members of the GLP team as well as experts from organisations supporting global learning in schools.
Core sessions being delivered as part of the day include: developing global learning in your school and cross curriculum planning as well as sessions on particular aspects of global learning such as poverty and development and images and perceptions.
In addition to the core sessions, participants will be able to choose from a range of workshops enabling them to access tailored support for priority areas in their school. These workshops will include sessions on: school linking/partnerships, working with International NGOs and a range of workshops on different pedagogical approaches to global learning (e.g. critical thinking and Philosophy for Children).
Up to two members of staff can attend per school. Lunch and other refreshments will be provided.
Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
If you wish to attend the CPD event please by Friday, 26th May. In your please inform us how many people will be attending from your school and also any specific dietary requirements.
Please note this CPD event is being paid for out of four school’s budgets. We would therefore appreciate all attendance confirmed by Friday, 26th May so that we have sufficient time to organise catering and logistics. We anticipate high demand for this event and will therefore need to invoice any schools who do not attend after booking. If there is high demand then previously GLP-registered schools will be given priority booking.
