Optimizing Business Processes Reducing Transaction Processing Costs
Level of Automation ERP An Integrated Oracle Solution Imaging Transaction Cost Workflow The lead idea is to start with a quick pitch demonstrating how Oracle provides an end-to-end business process automation solution, of which I/PM provides the key components of capture, imaging and workflow (with BPEL, of course), augmenting the automation already provided by ERP systems like EBS Financials. Customers can move on to further automate their systems using other Oracle technologies to achieve total optimization, all on one unified platform. EDI, XML EDI, XML Self Service Self Service

The Cost of Paper Physical Cost of Handling Paper
The Larger Paper Premium Electronic Transactions Cost 60% Less1 Erosion of Profit Margins Unintentionally missed early payment discounts (1% or more) Premiums charged to serial late payers (1.5% or more) Undetected over- / double-payments Poor Cash & Payment Management Up to 60% of invoices have errors Lost interest on prematurely paid invoices Risk & Control Gaps ‘Floating’ invoices create invisible and unaccounted liabilities Delayed shipments due to late payments $2B company with 100,000 invoices / yr Wastes $1.5 million over 3 years Ex. $1 $0.5 $1.5 $2.5 $2 1 2 3 Cumulative Cost Difference Year Cost (in Millions) If you are processing paper invoices, you’re paying a 60% premium over the cost of processing those invoices electronically. If you are handling a moderate number of transactions, the amount of cash you are burning starts creeping into the millions very quickly. These are two year old estimates of the cost of processing manual vs. electronic invoices from the Gartner group – conservative by many standards – but just a little something to give you a sense of the cost. According to Meta Group, up to 60% of invoices have errors Manual 8.50 / invoice Electronic 3.44 / invoice 1. Gartner, Invoicing and Payments: The Payer Value Proposition

Oracle E-Business Suite Opportunities for process optimization
USER CONTENT CAPTURE & MATCHING DATA ENTRY SEARCH & RETRIEVE APPROVAL ROUTING REPORTING MANAGER WORKFLOW MONITORING Here we demonstrate where most customers are now with E-Business Suite and business process automation, and which areas they’re looking to make more efficient by implementing imaging and workflow. The idea is to present the different functional areas of a business process from the vantage point of the business user, the business manager and IT, and drill down into what EBS does well (red solid outlined areas), what it does to a limited degree (red dotted outlined areas), and what it doesn’t do at all (shaded out areas). E-Business Suite Optimization For the Business User
Content management: Paper introduces inefficiencies that increase costs: Lost productivity due to handling and transportation Paper-bound processes are well defined but can’t be automated (difficult to monitor; growth requires more staff) Search and retrieve: Business users need to be able to perform search / retrieve functions for relevant documents from within E-Business Suite Routing: Business users need the ability to easily route items for re-work, review or approval 6
7
E-Business Suite Optimization For Management
Workflow: Advanced queuing and delegation is needed to better allocate work distribution Faster response times could be achieved with the ability to modify workflows as needed Greater efficiencies are realized when workflows can be ported across multiple processes Monitoring: Managers need real-time insight at the user, queue and process levels Managers need to ability to view and run reports based on a wide variety of performance indicators 7
8
E-Business Suite Optimization For IT Administration
Imaging and workflow systems integration requirements: Extensibility: Must be able to leveraged across multiple E-Business Suite modules and provide APIs to support other applications that have imaging req’s Content Management capabilities should support extensibility into other areas to increase automation (i.e. compliance) Flexibility: Integration must be loosely-coupled and built on a SOA to ease E-Business Suite upgrades and ensure system integrity Scalability: Imaging systems must scale to meet all level of enterprise need to optimize cost savings from converting from paper storage Viability: Systems should offer an integrated roadmap with E-Business Suite to be able to leverage the latest functionality and ensure long-term ROI 8

Oracle Imaging & Process Management One platform automates all applications
Custom Apps Payables HR Contracts 3rd Party Apps I/PM is an enterprise-wide imaging and workflow platform that content-enables Oracle E-Business Suite, custom and third party applications on a single image repository, with portable workflows that can be “re-used” to accelerate any number of processes Customers can start by image-enabling an E-Business Suite application such as Payables, and then move on to other applications as it fits their needs, with I/PM’s ROI growing over time as greater process efficiencies are achieved throughout the enterprise, without adding cost or complexity for IT. The Oracle I/PM “loosely-coupled” web services oriented integration approach allows the I/PM system to be maintained separately from your E-Business Suite environment, thereby ensuring system integrity and giving you the flexibility to maintain and upgrade one system without dependency on the other as there are no “hard-coded” I/PM hooks into E-Business Suite thereby minimizing customization and dependency on consulting services. Oracle I/PM & Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated User Experience
I/PM is launched from E-Business Suite UI to: Retrieve associated images Access work lists Resolve exceptions etc. For the business user, Oracle I/PM leverages Oracle E-Business Suite custom menus, zoom menus and hotkeys to retrieve documents associated with an Oracle record by executing searches against index data captured with the documents in Oracle I/PM. Push data that was entered into an Oracle E-Business Suite screen to Oracle I/PM processes or image field values to establish the relationship between documents and Oracle E-Business Suite records. Data entry via Oracle E-Business Suite screens allows the user to leverage the business rules and validations provided by Oracle E-Business Suite, and then push the final validated data into Oracle I/PM eliminating manual indexing of images.

Oracle I/PM Roadmap Imaging Platform for Oracle Fusion Applications
LEASING T&E A/P LEASING T&E EMPLOYEE ON-BOARDING EMPLOYEE ON-BOARDING SOA SUITE I/PM I/PM SOA SUITE With the IPM solution presented today, we’re able to offer E-Business Suite customers a productized integration that provides line-of-business users with the key features they need to increase process efficiency, while also giving IT a better infrastructure for deploying across multiple departments, and one that’s easier to maintain and upgrade. With the 11g release and Oracle Fusion, this goes one step further, with a unified technology stack for all aspects of imaging and process management, with IPM providing the default image repository for Fusion Applications, and BPEL the primary workflow engine. In effect, both technologies become key “Fusion-enablers” to E-Business Suite. In comparison, with point solutions like 170 Systems, you have a disjointed set of technologies that have no integrated roadmap. The pain that 170 Systems customers are experiencing upgrading to E-Business Suite 12 underscores their product limitations. Not only does our approach to E-Business Suite integration make more sense today, but the story will get better over time, while 170 Systems will conceivably get worse. Oracle’s commitment to the Fusion strategy does not favour the long-term viability of redundant solution technologies such as 170’s. They have already been feeling the heat as their days as an Oracle solution provider appear to be numbered. This is a key point to discuss with IT or at the C-Level; do you want to be the last company to choose 170 Systems? TODAY 11g 23
