Constitutional Republic - we have a constitution (a set of laws) Representative Democracy - we vote for people to go represent us in government We got the idea of democracy from ancient greece.

4 Job of American Citizens
Vote in elections Pay taxes Serve on a jury Attend school Voluntary service in the military

5 United States Economy Mixed. Very close to Free Enterprise (Free Market) Our government does regulate some things such as: FDA Health department City zoning codes ***NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) - an agreement between the U.S., Canada and Mexico that eliminated trade cost which helps all economies, making it possible to sell products at a lower cost for consumers.

8 Canada's History France settles in Canada.
1608 France settles in Canada. Late s Great Britain begins colonizing parts of Canada 1763 Great Britain won control of Canada. France was forced to give up much of its land in North America 1931 Canada becomes its own independent country.

Meaning Canada is a bilingual country. Primary Religion: Christianity Close ties to Great Britain and France
