1 Photosynthesis History: Step 1
Get into groups of 4. Pick an experiment (each group member should pick a different experiment). Draw before and after pictures of your experiment (make sure to label them). Write conclusions for your experiment (on worksheet). Answer any questions that go with your experiment (on worksheet).

2 Photosynthesis History: Step 2
In your groups, teach your experiment and share your conclusion. Evaluate the other conclusions. Make modifications if needed. All 4 group members should agree on all 4 conclusions. Finish filling out the rest of your paper.

3 Photosynthesis History: Step 3
Write your group’s conclusion on the piece of poster paper that’s labeled with your experiment.

4 Photosynthesis History: Step 4
Let’s talk about the conclusions. Which are good, and which aren’t as good? Are the conclusions based on results? Do the conclusions only contain information explained by the experiment? Can they be improved/refined?

5 Experiment 1 + water Conclusion: Plants need water to grow, not soil.
Hypothesis: A plant’s biomass comes from soil. If that is true, as the plant grows, the soil’s mass should decrease. Results: + water Conclusion: Plants need water to grow, not soil. Note: Plants grow in soil because there are nutrients like phosphorus in it that they need. However, plants can be grown in only water with added nutrients (called hydroponics).
