UNU-INWEH approached to assist with Knowledge Management and Learning 180 transboundary projects around the world Over US$ 6 billion spent over 20 years Largest compilation of IW documentation ever created Enhancing the use of Science in International Waters projects to improve project results

KM within IW:Science o Database and Database Management System o Involves the Integration of Both Doc. /Data Storage & Communication & Analysis Tools Termed a Learning Network; o This allows the Capture, Storage & Extraction of both explicit knowledge within the document as well as the tacit knowledge of the user. The ability to access information, and to access the information in an integrated manner - NOT just a storage function. o The Result is the Synthesis New Knowledge and Learning Network To extend and reinforce learning via synthesis of information, dissemination of knowledge and re-insertion into the knowledge base.

Stewardship Tracking System (A Web based database and application that accesses spatial data and information in real time from distributed sources for the conservation community in Ont, CA) Dreamcatcher (It provides the information and tools to connect communities and stakeholders for management of important/ protected areas)
11
Web Informatics Development Environment (WIDE) Meta-Tools for Software as a Service (SaaS) in which Programming has effectively been replaced with a declarative methodology, a wizard or forms-based approach to building Web-based systems. Enabling (8-10 X) faster application development, iterative builds with user-centred design and low maintenance cost
12
The Stewardship Tracking System Supports the capture of fine-scale information from conservation partners using standard protocols to improve data quality and analysis Builds models that integrate numerous data sources in geographic space in order to provide enhanced direction for resource management decisions
13
A web database and application that manages distributed conservation spatial data in real time and where conservation organizations in Ontario can: Easily enter map and attribute information about their stewardship and restoration projects Quickly query, report and summarize progress and outcomes Implement adaptive management of stewardship practices based on an expanding base of knowledge of successful projects. The Stewardship Tracking System
