2 Pantomime is the art of acting without words It is often called the art of silence

3 Non-verbal communication
The character is portrayed through gestures, facial expression and movement. Pantomime goes hand in hand with dance & was the forerunner of classical ballet. All Actors use pantomime onstage.

4 How to Pantomime? Exercise to relax your muscles
Create a response to something: an object, a situation, something you see Focus on detail. React with your face. Move your hands as if there were real things you are touching. Realize that it takes time, and that you must learn to focus on every movement to show the audience what you are doing, and why.

You run to catch your plane, and drop your suitcase, spilling all the contents. You try to put them all back in the suitcase and still catch your flight. You are watching a scary movie. You are brushing your teeth, putting on make-up and getting ready for a date.

8 Assignment Write down an idea that you can pantomime with another person. Tomorrow we will take partners and practice the silent acting.
