2 What’s a NUSH? The NUSH is an interactive notebook designed to
Help students stay organized Provide a resource for studying for assessments Help students trace long-term development of historical themes Help students trace historical continuities and changes over time Help students keep develop historical learning objectives for the AP class

3 The NUSH Appendix The Appendix holds two different kinds of resources:
Resources for their NUSH The NUSH Table of Contents Student information sheet Instructions for building their NUSH Instructions for Unit Timelines Skills resources they need all year Writing Skills Thesis Writing How to Read Critically

4 The NUSH Table of Contents
The Table of Contents is maintained as a Google© Document in real time Students can either print the Table of Contents or create one on their own paper Doing their own helps with page numbers

5 The Student Information Sheet
Gathers some basic student information, but is intended to help me get to know students better by asking some off-the-wall questions and inquiring about their goals for the class and life

7 Unit Sections Each Unit will get its own section in the NUSH
Each Unit section will have A Unit Cover Page A Unit Calendar A Unit Study Guide A Unit Timeline All assignments for the unit All notes taken in class and from reading The essay written at the end of the unit

8 Unit Cover Page The Unit Cover Page is designed to help students visualize the big issues of the unit It engages students’ visual thinking by asking them “what do you think of when you picture this unit?” and asks them to consider from where those images come

11 Unit Study Guide The Study Guides for each unit include Key Concepts from the AP Curriculum Framework that will be addressed during the unit They also include Key Terms and Ideas the serve as illustrative evidence for the Key Concepts Students are required to process the Study Guide (highlighting, defining terms, etc.)

12 Unit Timeline For each unit, students will create a thematic timeline
There is a different line for each of the seven historical themes spelled out in the AP Curriculum Framework The lines of the timeline are color-coded to help students See Timeline Instructions

14 Unit Timeline Students can use different colors of ink, highlighting, or simply color the lines

15 Unit Assignments & Class Notes
Students are required to highlight and show evidence of review

16 Class Essays Essays are included with rubrics in order to remind kids of big ideas from each unit
