1 Understanding and Designing Blended Experiences

2 What is your vision of a classroom blended ?

3 Blended Learning Instructional delivery model in which the student accesses content and instruction through a blend of face-to-face interaction and digital learning opportunities.

4 Why Blend? Differentiated Experiences Digital Literacy Time
Data to inform practice Personalized Learning Differentiated Experiences Why Blend? Digital Literacy Time

5 Why Blended Learning? Blended learning acknowledges that we now live in a digital age and the ways in which we work, socialize and learn are changing. People are now used to receiving a continuous stream of digital information at a fast pace and incorporating it into their daily working and social lives – so why should the classroom be any different?

6 Why Blended Learning? 1 ) Learner is more engaged using a variety of content types 2) Different learner, different learning style 3) Instructor has the ability to assess learner trends and act accordingly 4) Improved Feedback

7 What is the instructional purpose?
Acquire Develop Demonstrate

8 How will you accomplish the instructional purpose?
Formative or Summative Assessment Small Group Accessing Assigned Digital Content Independent Activity Whole Group Collaborative Work

9 What is the instructional purpose?
Small group is pulled to address misconceptions about representing division with pictures based on observations. Students work in pairs to complete an extension activity creating their own division stories. Data indicates whole group introduction to division is necessary. Pre-assess student understanding of division and equal groups using whiteboards and every pupil response. Students complete independent practice. They have choice in their process; a manipulative activity with brownies or an "interactive" in Discovery Education. Teacher monitors student progress. Students complete a formative assessment in BCPS One so teacher can check for understanding. What is the instructional purpose? How will you accomplish your instructional purpose?

10 Gallery Walk & Reflection
What implications for space do you see? Are students using digital tools to acquire, develop, or produce knowledge and skills? Is there evidence that formative assessment was used to promote personalization and customization? Gallery Walk & Reflection
