1 Modern Manufacturing Nation
America experiences it’s own Industrial Revolution from the 1790’s to the 1860’s American entrepreneurs and manufacturers reorganize work routines, build factories, and exploit a wide range of natural resources and completely change the development of the country America will now compete with Europe as a producer of manufactured goods

2 Division of Labor: A way of producing things for cheaper by having different people produce different parts of a product at their home, and then having someone assemble the final product. When entrepreneurs being to divide labor tasks, they increase profits for themselves and they increase the overall wealth of the country. They also put many skilled artisans out of business, and they create a need for a large volume of low paying and low skilled jobs. Foreshadow increased immigration. Mineral Based Economy: The mineral wealth and natural resources of North America drive much of the industrialization. Coal and other metals (copper, tin, iron etc.) will power the machines and be the basis of the construction of new products. America also has the advantage of land space. Once industrialization and mechanization occurs, America has the space and resources to expand and growth

Started by Francis Cabot Lowell in Massachusetts in The first factory to complete all process of cloth-making under one roof. One of the best examples of early industrialization and how it transforms America. Recruit thousands of young women to work. Women live on site, have strict rules regarding behavior, and have opportunities to attend social activities. This is seen as a positive step in the trend towards female equality. Women enter the work force for a variety of reasons, but they earn more money than they can as domestic servants and experience more independence.

9 The Market Revolution Revolution in Transportation, Communication, and Production of Goods This will ensure that America is an industrial nation and not a nation of yeomen farmers Easy access to capital for investors and businessmen, thanks to Hamilton’s System (banks, credit, and lending)

15 Infrastructure Roads (Cumberland Gap- Road to MD to OH and then IL)
Paid for by Federal Gov (Interstate) Canals (Erie Canal) Funded by New York State and private investors Railroads (Baltimore and Ohio RR) State Funded Most of the infrastructure is in the North. The South has little and maintains is plantation based economy All of this infrastructure facilitates tons of trade and migration into the American interior. These internal improvements mean economic prosperity!
