11/27/2018 Definition: a hazard is any condition that can cause illness, injury or death to personnel or damage to or loss of ability to perform the mission, equipment, property, or even reputation. A hazard can have several possible negative outcomes or results: Injury Death Damage Mission failure Mission degradation Increased resource expenditures Adverse public relations Decrease in Soldier confidence in leadership. IDENTIFY HAZARDS USING: METT-TC = Mission, Enemy, Terrain/Weather, Troops, Time, and Civil Considerations ADTPLT = Activity, Disrupters, Terrain/Weather, People, Time, and Legal Do not place Outcomes/Results in the HAZARDS block of the CRMWS

Controls normally fall into one of three basic categories: 1. Educational Controls: individual and collective training that ensures performance to standard. 2. Physical Controls: barriers, signs, guards, or supervisors, providing warnings that hazards exist. 3. Avoidance/Elimination Controls: tactics, techniques, procedures, or plans preventing contact, or completely eliminating, known hazards.
