1 Giraffes are Endangered Presentation
By: Jacob George Nicely done - good information - good use of images and text to make an attractive presentation Missing some information - food web needs to be tweaked

2 Giraffe Basics and Appearance
Giraffes live in various parts of Africa Giraffes are very tall and furry Giraffes eat grass and Acacia trees Only live up to 25 years Weigh between 1,600 and 3,000 Males become 17 ft tall Females become 14 ft tall Giraffe population is lowering due to humans

3 Food Web of the Giraffe Need to rework this page - the thin lines are confusing

4 Food Web Explained The sun gives energy to 3 main producers ( Acacia tree, grass and leaves) The giraffe eats all of the producers the gazelle only eats grass Then gazelles are eaten by hyenas Lions eat the giraffe, hyena, and sometimes gazelles Finally worms decompose everything and restart the cycle Thin green lines show energy to the producers Thin blue lines shows energy to the decomposer Arrows show the relationships between predator and prey Bacteria are also decomposers but worms are the main decomposers

5 The Problem There was 140k giraffes in 1999 Now there are 80k
The population has shrunk 40 percent in the last 30 years The problem is from poachers Poachers mainly kill for the fur for a profit Humans taking land and food Humans want to build their own houses Humans use resources that giraffes also need Humans use acacia trees for homes and construction

6 What Would Happen if Giraffes Go Extinct?
Grass would grow everywhere It´s very hard to find giraffe population Tigers will die off And everything that eat tigers eat will die off Other food webs will be affected Humans will lose resources from other animals Resources that animals need will be affected Tigers would not sustain life because they would have a low amount of food sources

7 What Can We Do? We can donate to charities Protest
Show others statistics Give information to important people Physically help Giraffes Become aware of the animals surrounding Giraffes Help those animals Stop poachers Set up reservations
