In class, we will be looking at characteristics of this genre of writing and work to create our own adapted versions of them. Math We have just started our last Module of the year—Geometry and Measurement! During this unit, students will be reviewing polygons and attributes of polygons that they learned last year. We will be taking it a step further by calculating area and perimeter of regular and irregular polygons, as well as solving two-step word problems related to polygons and their measurements. We will be doing many hands on projects to help students apply these learned skills to new situations. Keep practicing those multiplication and division facts at home  Does this look okay to you? Muffins with Moms On Friday, May 12th , we will be having our Mother’s Day celebration (Muffins with Moms) from 8:00-8:30 am in our classroom (room 261). Come to school early with your child and enjoy a muffin and time spent with your child before starting your day! .  Pioneers We have just started our last social studies unit of the year—Pioneers. Students will be learning about life on the Oregon Trail through reading, writing and in-class projects. On June 1st, we will be taking a field trip to Pioneer Farms so students can experience, first-hand, what life was like as a Pioneer. More information will be coming home in the next week or two. Please be on the look out! May Book Talk: Historical Fiction May will be our last month completing book talks.
